I replaced the Wave radio in my 2002 new Mini with a Boost radio, which adds a CD player and better sound quality. It also enabled me to use the carkit interface I had for my Nokia phone carkit.

As usual, updates are long overdue. First of all, the latest on the white Cooper, which is not good news at all; the dropgears have eaten each other, which meant the gearbox had to come apart and some expensive components replaced.

Sinds 1 september werk ik niet meer bij AEBIZZ E-consultants. Hoewel de keuze moeilijk was, heb ik uiteindelijk de knoop doorgehakt en werk nu bij Dutch Open Projects, waar ik websites bouw gebaseerd op Open Source oplossingen (PHP, Joomla, MySQL, Drupal, Symfony). Daarom heb ik helaas ook de Mini Cooper Checkmate moeten inleveren. Gelukkig heb ik wel een prima vervanger gevonden!

A while back, a friend came to me asking whether I knew any Joomla component that would display the pictures from a Flickr group. Preferably, it should be "flashy". When hearing "picture" and "flashy" in one sentence, I immediately think of Lightbox. Unfortunately, I did not know such a Joomla component (not even one that would do the group-thing at all). However, I found the challenge interesting, and the same evening, I had rolled my own.

Afgelopen weekend was het Bataviaweekend van de Mini Seven Club Nederland. Het was erg gezellig, met een leuke puzzelrit en een barbecue op zaterdag en een Engels ontbijt op zondag. Op zondag stonden ook straatspelletjes op de camping op het programma, maar in plaats daarvan zijn we naar de Bataviawerf gegaan om daar de replica van het VOC-schip Batavia te gaan bekijken.

Morgen is het zover: het rookverbod in de horeca. Joehoe, feest!

After being away for a long time, I stumbled upon the pics from the white Cooper's restoration. I uploaded them to Flickr so that they are available right here on the site again.

Er is weer eens iets nieuws te melden over de witte Cooper, en wel op het front van de spatborden. De laatste keer dat ik daarover schreef was, na de trip naar het IMM in Polen, de situatie nogal schokkend. Score: spatbord rechtsachter doorgesleten, spatbord rechtsachter doorgebroken (door een eerder ongelukje), chroomstrip links verdwenen.

Last week, I finally got the chance to take a more thorough look at the new "R56" Mini, which was introduced for model year 2007. The Checkmate had to go for a big checkup, the one that comes at 100.000 km, although due to large distances it asked for it a little later - I'm now at 110.000. As a loaner, I got an R56 Cooper with what looked like the Chili pack. It had lounge leather seats, a little spoiler and only 145 km on the odometer.

Begin november stond er ineens een bericht op het forum van de Mini Seven Club Nederland; ter introductie van een nieuw product organiseerde Tomtom in de vroege ochtend van maandag 12 november de Tomtom Filerally. Mini's, Fiatjes 500, Eendjes, Kevers en Dafjes mochten meedoen, volgens Tomtom oude autootjes die niet zo snel gaan en het in de ochtendspits dus moeten hebben van een slimme bestuurder.
