Apparently, I am late to the game, but this is a really interesting video. Edit: Not to mention that this Paul Irish guy is the good kind of crazy. Mothereffing awesome!
I’ve seen this a while ago and ran across it again just now via Twitter: DodoCase. These are beautiful iPad (and Kindle) cases that really breathe old-school. Not “dead tree” silliness “old school”, but real beautiful craftsmanship Old School. I’m still on the fence whether to get one because up till now I’ve used my iPad exclusively at home and don’t really need a case (plus, I’ve got an Apple case waiting for when I should need a case), but this is definitely the one to get, should I choose to get a more stylish case than the Apple one.
Just “één nachtje slapen” (sleep one night) and we Dutch celebrate the birthday of Saint Nicolas, aka “Sinterklaas” (ring any bells?). Many families will somehow plot to get a large sack of presents at their front door and have someone – which we will tell our kids was “Zwarte Piet” (Black Pete, Sinterklaas’s trusty helper), but is more likely to be a friendly neighbour – bang on the door. Anyway, don’t let me explain all the intricacies of this typical Dutch holiday, David Sedaris is much better at it.
Just one thing, David… Saint Nicolas actually was a bishop.
This guy must have both seriously too much time, as well as money. But great taste! Put together 1500 Hotwheels toy cars and some custom built, industrial machinery, and what do you get?
Just a quick note to say, well, (as you would’ve guessed from the title) WordPress 3′s multisite feature is awesome (and, to sneak in a link to the new site…). I created a new site yesterday, without writing a single line of code or uploading a single file (uploading media files to the new site when creating content doesn’t count ). All I had to do:
Register a domain name
Enter the domain name in my vhost config (i.e. you need to have this kind of control over your web server, otherwise you’d have to make do with sub-domains)
“Sintel” is an independently produced short film, initiated by the Blender Foundation as a means to further improve and validate the free/open source 3D creation suite Blender. With initial funding provided by 1000s of donations via the internet community, it has again proven to be a viable development model for both open 3D technology as for independent animation film.
This 15 minute film has been realized in the studio of the Amsterdam Blender Institute, by an international team of artists and developers. In addition to that, several crucial technical and creative targets have been realized online, by developers and artists and teams all over the world.
It’s a beautiful, 15 minute long fantasy movie, complete with dragons. And, its open source!
The movie itself, and all of the work of the Durian team in the past 18 months will be released under the Creative Commons Attribution license, free for everyone to distribute, learn from or re-use. The 4-disc DVD set will provide all data to be able to recreate and rerender the film in its entirety.
