Flevovos

Yesterday evening, we took the white Cooper to Flevoland, to participate in the bi-weekly Flevovos. This is short for Flevovossenjacht, and vossenjacht is Dutch for fox hunt.

Now, don't worry, we haven't started taking up that nasty habbit of some inhabitants of the UK to hunt a real fox through the countryside on horseback with a pack of dogs. The fox in this context is a guy with a car, a thermos of coffee, and a big CB transmitter, who has hidden himself somewhere in the countryside (one of the few similarities with a real fox hunt) and who transmits a CB signal. The "hunters" should then use their CB receivers and an accurate S-meter to track him down.

We went with three Mini's; Bertina and Wibo in Ugly, Jan and Jansje in their white Mini and me and Demelza in my white Cooper. It was our second fox hunt, and the first "real" one, the other one was a nice evening with the regular crowd of Bertina, Wibo, Jan and Jansje where everyone got to be the fox and the distances were not too far. Bertina and Wibo came third, Jan and Jansje fourth, and we managed sixth. Not bad, with only a bit of practice.
